# hey guys, lately my ivy has been looking like it is on the brink of…

hey guys, lately my ivy has been looking like it is on the brink of death. it was doin really well then all the sudden went down hill.
i’ve noticed the soil is staying extremely wet and taking longer to dry up when it used to dry up in a couple of days or so.
i’m not sure what’s wrong or caused the plant to go downhill.
help please!

🤷‍♀️ I bought 2 little ones recently. One did great and the other looked just like yours did. I treated them exactly the same. So I don’t get it. I’m definitely going to be following this post.

I think get down there and check out those roots.
If it’s root rot, the plant will start to look dried out because it basically has no functional roots. And the soil will stay wet longer for the same reason, because it’s not using any of the water. (This is from experience and I’ve saved several plants by recognizing this 😂😂)

Might need to be fertilized if it’s been in the same soil for awhile, tho sometimes replacing the soil is easier..

Mine was doing this, I have this \& a variegated variety together.. the variegated was struggling.

I changed the soil and placed it closer to the humidifier \& it’s thriving now 😁👍🏻

Agreed, if it’s water logged you’ll need to get it out of the soil asap to save it. Repot in well draining soil, maybe mix in some perlite. Then hold off on water until next cycle and don’t drown it when watering. My ivy likes a quick pour of water but never enough to drain out the bottom. Hope you can save her!
