I’ve slowly replaced philo’s with Alocasia’s being my favorite - don’t know why as they’re super finicky, I guess I just see an Alocasia at the store and feel the need to add it to my collection.
My black velvet has been with me the longest out of these and has lost all of its original leaves; any tips on keeping them happy and healthy? The texture feels thin and frail , may just be maturing but I feel like something could be wrong 🤥

I water my Alocasia with distilled water. I know lots of people say it doesn’t matter but for me it definitely made a huge difference.

While I do have philodendrons.. they’re overrated! My favs have always been Calathea but I think aglaonema are slowly becoming a favorite as I notice more and more gorgeous kinds. But recently I also am finding a lot of alocasia I enjoy as well. The variegated frydek and Jacklyn are my two favorite so far (but I don’t have either 😒)

My alocasias appreciate high humidity and not drying out completely

Have you gone searching in the roots for corms? That way you can grow your own baby alocasias! I have a silver dragon in a cloche that I grew from a corm and she’s thriving

You are aware alocasia go into a dormancy period and can look dead or dying and that is perfectly normal, right?
