# Hi all! New to the app here and hoping for some help to identify this…

Hi all! New to the app here and hoping for some help to identify this plant? Would love to know the best care for it. All I know is that it is pet friendly!

My favorite Calathea, it’s know as Calathea Network or Calathea Musaica.

I’ve heard the network pattern will fade in too dark of light and too bright. I keep mine about 5ft from an east facing window, but I think it could handle a little more light still.

One last thing, they’re sensitive to lime in tap water, if you can give it filtered it will appreciate it

Thank you that is really helpful. I also planned on putting it near an East/SE facing window. I was planning to hang it near 🤔

Calathea isn’t a trailing plant so it will never hang from your pot. It’s in the same family as the “Prayer Plant” so every night you will see it lift its leaves upward, and then lower in the morning. These plants are typically on the floor of the jungle so that is recommended location

Gotcha! I have cats who loooove to eat my plants which is why I plan to hang it for now while it’s small. It’s a hanging shelf right in front of the window.
