Below is a picture of Horton, my elephant ear. Is it normal that one leaf dies as another is being born??

Sometimes yes……my alocasia’s used to do this prolifically. Maybe I’ve found the balance as I didn’t have that happen this year

I just got a new leaf on mine (the 4th leaf) and the other 3 are still healthy.

Yes alocasias are known to do this and to help the plants new growth I’d chop off the dying leaf
