# Anyone have ideas about dealing with plants and cats? Just adopted a…

Anyone have ideas about dealing with plants and cats? Just adopted a cat and I have a huge thaumatophyllum I can’t bear to get rid of, but my cat seems interested in it and it is moderately toxic. I ordered some bitter apple spray and got her some cat grass. Not sure where else I would put it because it’s so big. Any ideas appreciated!

One of my favorite influencers is Feline Jungle who has a house tour that includes tips to keep plants away from kitties

I put cinnamon in my soil and it seems to keep my cat (the one that terrorizes plants) away. It doesn’t work for all cats though.

I just told my cat "No" everytime he played with or bit them and took him off the windowsill and he never touches my plants.

My dad had a cat that loved crunch on the leaves of his thaumatophyllum too 😬 His was smaller so he was able to put it up high and the kitty was too old to get it. But it’s trickier with younger agile cats…. Maybe getting a tomato hoop would hold up all the leaves and make them seem like less of a droopy swat-able toy. I hope something works for that cute kitty! 😸
