# So I have these light bulbs and I'm not sure if they're bright enough…

_Posted by Michelle on 2023-09-28_

So I have these light bulbs and I'm not sure if they're bright enough for my plants or not... Currently the area my plants are in is very small, nearly all of them fit onto a coffee table. Does anyone know if any of these light bulbs are sufficient? (8.3 W, 8.8 W and 14 W) They seem pretty bright at nighttime, even the 8.3 W 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks in advance!

Regular light bulbs don’t really give the correct spectrums of light plants need to survive. You need lights that mimic the sun and put out the correct spectrum

Get a light meter to test the area when the light is on.

For a primary growing light, you’ll probably want a light that’s designed for plants. Good news though, hardware stores like Lowes and Home Depot usually have led glow bulbs that work in the same fixtures you have for these bulbs. They may not look as bright as the bulbs we use to light out houses, but they have different spectrum emissions that are more beneficial for plants including ultraviolet, which we can’t see. Mine is Great Value, which I believe is Walmart actually. It was super cheap and has been lasting a long time

Ive learned any light is better than no light. And, the subject matter experts are pot growers
