# Hello everyone! I have a new-to-me plant I purchased from someone on…

Hello everyone!

I have a new-to-me plant I purchased from someone on marketplace… and I have a few questions.

It’s two main leaves look happy, it has three smaller leaves that have yellowed and are shriveling. But it also has new growth….

My questions are:
\- To confirm, is this indeed a Arrowhead ‘white butterfly’?
\- do you think it’s just adjusting to new location? Or would yellowing leaves at the same time as new growth indicate too much light/sunburn…

Aspiring green thumb, thank you 🫶🏼

Looks like a white butterfly. A few of mine from the same mother plant are shown.

Looks like overwatering is turning the leaves yellow. The pot must have drainage holes and well draining soil. The soil needs to dry out at least 1 inch or more before watering again.

I recommend repotting with a well draining soil mix. I use 1/2 succulent soil mixed with 1/2 standard potting soil with my syngoniums. Use the same size pot or smaller. The root ball only needs to be about 1/4 from the wall at this growth stage.

Keep in bright indirect light and high humidity. Feed with Osmocote timed release fertilizer balls or similar.

Syngoniums can stay pot bound for a long time with adequate light, water and fertilizer. They are easy care plants that don’t need a lot of fuss. I’ve have a few that are still in their grower’s pot over 8 months. Good luck🪴
