# Another leaf has yellowed. I’m so worried about it. It had a yellow…

Another leaf has yellowed. I’m so worried about it. It had a yellow leaf before like this, though it was smaller, but it ended up just shriveling up and falling off. Also it isn’t just the leaf but the stem too. The whole thing just fell off with a small tug. Now it’s happening to one of the bigger ones. Anybody know what I can do?? This is my favorite plant 🪴🥲
ALSO how do I repot this kind of plant? It barely has enough soil and I don’t want it to just fall apart.

It looks overwatered? How often are you watering?

I water it as often as Planta tells me to

So I think that’s every 8 days??

I water it as told, never more, never less. I read that maybe something with the soil? I’m thinking maybe it doesn’t have enough soil to actually absorb the water, and that I should repot it and add more soil, because it honestly doesn’t have a lot of it. The water just easily goes through the pot.

Seems like a good game plan but I’m not expert haha

What you could do is replace the orchid bark (soil) and check to see if the roots are black and dying off. If there is rot you will be able to smell it. Then you could rinse off the roots, put it back in pot and water really well. Hopefully that will help your baby thrive. Good luck, I would love to see updates.

I’ll do this and see if it’s rotting!

I checked but I honestly wasn’t sure if it was rotting or not. I couldn’t decipher the smell either if it smelled bad or just like soil. However I did find little white bugs that I assumed were mites and sprayed down the whole plant

It’s much better to underwater rather than overwater the plant. Also adding more soil won’t fix the problem. This plant is an aroid which has thick roots that like a lot of air pockets in the soil. Search YouTube for aroid mix to see what I mean. I use 3 parts coco chips, 2 parts perlite and 1 part coco coir.

For this type of plant you want the water to drain right through when watering.

As far as following Planta’s advice, you should still feel the soil with your finger to make sure the soil feels dry before watering. If the soil isn’t dry after 7-10 days then there is something wrong with the roots.

If you do find root rot, you can cut away the affected roots and repot in a well draining aroid mix.

If there aren’t any viable roots you can take cuttings and root in water.

Long story short, there is plenty of plant there to save even if the roots are rotting :)

So much amazing advice in these 🤗🤗

One other thing, it is imperative that you sterilize your cutting tools with alcohol before making any cuts or you will probably introduce bacteria that will cause further issues to the plant and prevent successful recovery
