I travel A LOT and plants are not allowed to come onto the plane with you through neither carry-on or check-in baggage. The only way to get a plant across the country is to mail it to yourself. Or, in your case, have your parents mail it to you. Make sure to overnight, if possible. If not, then 2-3 days maximum. As you’re most like aware, shipment stresses many plants out.

The TSA has no prohibition against flying with plants in either your carry-on or checked baggage. It won’t let me post a link, but if you go to the TSA website and search “plants” it should come right up.

They do mention that any plants brought carry-on will need to be able to fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. Your specific airline could have additional rules as well.

ETA: I have flown with plant cuttings many times and never had a problem. But I’ve never personally flown with an entire plant.

I flew with plants a few times and I guess I got lucky because they didn’t get confiscated or anything. I checked my bags :)

I’ve only traveled domestically with a plant once in my carry on and TSA never said anything. For you, I’d say some small plants are fine. Of course, the bigger they are, the more difficult they’ll be to travel with.

yess of course small ones / cuttings i was hoping to bring but i know you can't for international flights so i was just concerned they would confiscate any plant

I’d look into your destination and your flights rules on traveling with plants some places are more strict with others but if your confused on policy I would recommend calling the airports to see what they require some places it’s as simple as declaring if asked to that you have plants on your person
