Need advice about my snake plant. It is 3 years old and has never spread out of its coil. What should I do to get its leaves to be more “up and down” like other pictures of it? Is a repot in order?

What’s the lighting like where you have it?

What is the lighting situation for this plant? That may have something to do with it, but I’m pretty sure that that is just the particular growth pattern of this snake plant. If you want the leaves to grow “up and down”, you will need to buy a different variety

There are over 20 different types of snake plants. Perhaps your particular type is supposed to grow in a spiral fashion.

Ditto what others said. I know what you’re talking about and have a snake with that real strong “up and down” orientation (see pic) but my others are different varieties and they’ve never grown to be that way.
