# Help.. My string of hearts had dropped about two leaves like the one…

_Posted by Kelley Kelly’s on 2023-07-23_

Help.. My string of hearts had dropped about two leaves like the one I am holding ..some leaves have a slight yellowish tint to them and some leaves feel real thin but I watered about 6 days ago. On a regular usually water about every two weeks or two in a half weeks . Is it dying ? A few feet away from a west facing window and under a grow light when there isn’t much sun.

if they are yellow, check the roots for root rot. sometimes plants are fickle and even a slight wrong thing in their routine can send them over the edge. by the way, i love how it’s a heart shape. its fantastic

maybe if you recently moved your plant too it could be just adjusting the the environment, and i wouldn’t worry abt it

I love mine but she is very sensitive to watering. The thin-leaved plants are always a little more whiny. Make sure to check the soil before watering and that you have good drainage. Giving it a bit more light will also let the soil dry out between watering so you don't get mushy roots. If you have it in the nursery pot and then placed that into a ceramic pot, you may want to check that there's not water lingering in the bottom. Maybe switch to a clear saucer until she's happier. Then you can see how much water is shedding out and adjust how much you're giving her. I tend to be a little “heavy handed” with watering so the clear saucer really helps me with some of my thin-leaved plants. Except for calathea’s. They hate me and I hate them. 😜

Thanks. Yes I always do the stick poke to see if any soil sticks and if it does I usually wait an extra day. It’s in a nursery pot in a ceramic that also has a drainage hole. I just moved it so I’m going to give it a few more days to see if it’s because of the move but if a lot of leaves continue to drop will most def. Be going under to look at roots.
