# Hi everyone! Looking for some help. I’m new to caring for plants and…

Hi everyone! Looking for some help. I’m new to caring for plants and I want to do everything I can to succeed. I’ve failed, many, many times in the past but I downloaded this app in hopes of keeping me on top of it.

I bought these 2 Bromeliad’s on 7/14. My larger one seems to be doing well. My smaller one however, isn’t. I watered them both the day I got them and haven’t since.

The larger one has been in this corner since purchasing. I had the small one first on the ledge where the snake plant is, but noticed it browning so I moved it by the window to get more light as I thought I might have overwatered and it needed to try up better. The last picture is her today.

Please help! Thank you so much!

Maybe overwatering. Perhaps repotting and checking out the roots?

bromeliads are tricky because i think most of them like shade but they also need a lot of humidity so they are prone to root rot. i wish you luck

I was gifted one, and then it started to die after a week. I was really upset, and did a lot of research to try and bring it back to life. Turns out once these plants flower they start to die! They produce pups, which is the new growth at the bottom of your dying plant. Those are each a new little Bromeliad that can be removed and potted. Hope this helps!

If your worried about overwatering repot it in the same size terra cotta pot ( those orange clay pots) they wick away any extra water, you can also look into a humidifier or just spray the plant a bit with a spray bottle

Thank you all for the great feedback! I will be repotting it today for better drainage. I’ll also keep my eye out for any pups!
