# Can plants rot from being over fertilized? I’m trying to figure out…

Can plants rot from being over fertilized? I’m trying to figure out what happened with two of my Alocasias that rotted and died today 😔💔  
I repotted them recently, waited 1-2 weeks after purchasing them as to not shock them. I made sure I used an appropriate pot size and a chunky mix. I watered when they were almost dry but did not over water. I did use a small amount of Osmocote and I also fertilized with the maintenance dose of Dyna Gro Foliage Pro with each watering.

I have no idea what happened 😭 I am so sad. My Cuprea (picture for attention) was one of the victims and she was one of my wishlist plants. I only had her for less than a month 💔

I’m so sorry ☹️ yes plants can rot from being over fertilized. At nurseries, many times plants are heavily fertilized so I’m guessing your two types of fertilizer on top of that caused it
