# Anyone else prefer purchasing baby plants to watch them grow and…

Anyone else prefer purchasing baby plants to watch them grow and flourish into full size? I honestly prefer it because it makes me feel more accomplished in growing my plants!

Also I’ve heard that you can prop a string of turtles with just the leaves? I’ve been trying to prop this one still attached to its stem but I haven’t had any roots. Should I take off the leaves or keep it as is? Any other tips are welcome :)

I love growing baby plants for the same reason you describe! 🤩

I am currently trying to root SOT by placing the stems in water. I’m not that familiar with this plant tbh but I guess we can compare successes 😊

My daughter and I argue about this on the reg. She likes to buy the biggest plant in the shop while I look for the starters or the ones that are struggling. I get more gratification from saving the plant than buying one which might be healthier. I also prefer starting small because I have more time to get the plant used to the conditions in my house and I can learn about what it likes and what it doesn't so I can grow it big! Starting with a bigger plant is more difficult to me because now you're trying to figure it out but it's already set in it's ways and if it starts to do poorly, it's less likely to come back.

That’s my thinking, too! Plus the big ones usually cost more so if it dies that’s money down the drain 🥲

I agree with above. But, sometimes, a girl just NEEDS the big plant. And, so….
