a few weeks ago i bought a plant at ikea based on pure gut choice. it was a birds of paradise (BOP). my only experience with plants is succulents and philodendron brasil. ive killed a dracaena and a spider plant :/. this app said it was "hopeless" (apps words not mine 😭) on my skill level to take care of it. but ive learned from many mistakes and a variety of plant owners on tiktok and on here and google searching solutions. trial and error has allowed me to learn, like every plant owner. about a week and a half ago, i noticed my bop had a new leaf sprouting and monitored it. couple days later learned they get STUCK and sometimes need help by rubbing them off (not the term used in the educational video i found 😂) so ive been helping it slowly everyday for a couple of minutes by, quite literally, rubbing it off. tonight, the leaf has started to unfurl !! take that planta app !!

just put her in a good spot with indirect light and water when they’re dry and she should be good! mine said the same but little does planta know, i’ve had mine for three years and she still kicking!!

yeah, even though this faces east, its a shaded patio and through a window, this specific spot gets indirect lighting. its doing wonders. the leaf has been finishing ilup its unfurlings and im so excited for it
