# New plant parent here. I am wondering if I should get a Venus fly…

New plant parent here. I am wondering if I should get a Venus fly trap I’ve done some research and I’m a little hesitant to get one.  
Be prepared paragraph ahead 😂😅  
So I live in a desert not great humidity wise which is strike one. Strike two is that my window doesn’t have full sun so I would need it under a grow light. Other worry how distilled does the water really need to be I have a britta water filter for my other plants but is that enough? Also still a little confused on the dormant period like do I do no light/little light and no food?  
Literally any advice is welcome, thanks y’all
