Getting ready to repot my SOP! I just got him yesterday and his pot is a little crowded 😬 Anyone know what kind of soil I should use or if he is going to survive the move to a new pot? Pls help, he’s my first SOP and I don’t want him dying☹️

Miracle Grow Cactus and succulent soil! I’ve always preferred shallow pots like dish planters. If I can help it I try to keep as much of the root ball in tact and just refresh the soil around it and I aways take a generous amount of clippings before the repot to insure its survival. They are much easier to propagate and start over in my opinion though. I just finished potting up some of my cuttings from my mother plant repot :)

i’d wait to repot until the plant is settled and happy (showing signs of growth) in its intended place. use the new pot as a cover pot for now, as transplanting can cause shock to the plant and it’s already been through a lot on its way to your home

Do you think it will die if I change the pot now?

it’s not going to die, it just might slow down or rot some of the roots away or even lose some new growth. succulents are usually ok to be rootbound for a little bit since they’re slow growers
