this is gonna sound like a bad question probably- but i am a new plant mom hahahah. when misting, do i mist the leaves only? the soil only? or both? is it necessary to mist if the humidity is fine for my plants.

also-

i have been bottom watering my monstera when about three inches of the soil is dry, but for some reason i feel like it’s drying out every quickly on like day 2-3. should i bottom and top water? or just water it more?

When misting you can mist everything! But if the humidity is fine already for your plant then its optional to mist at all. Won’t hurt if you did still mist though. If the soil is drying then you can just water it more often. This usually happens around this time when we’re getting into the summer months. Hope this helps!

I also group plants together and have a cheap humidifier or two just so I don’t have to mist daily! Misting really just increases the humidity for a little bit and helps to keep the leaves clean

I have high humidity but I mist once a week with a diluted liquid fertilizer. Other than humidity, plants can also take in essentials through the pores in their leafs.

I have the same issue with bottom watering but I prefer it to keep fungus gnats away (although I still have them so maybe a lost cause). I usually end up top watering every 3rd water because I feel like it needs a nice soak. Especially if it’s newly repotted because the roots are more shallow.
