# So this started out as one plant. I had it for about 8 months and it…

So this started out as one plant. I had it for about 8 months and it had not grown even slightly and one of the leaves had a dead spot (as you can still see). I decided to remove the leaf that seemed to be having a bad time in the hopes that it would make the original plant happier (I’m no scientist, very amateur still). I didn’t want to just throw that cutting away so I put it in some water and within a week it started growing roots and a new second leaf. Now I’ve planted the cutting and it seems to be very happy. Is there anything I should do to help the original plant grow some new leaves, or do I just need to be patient?

At first glance that looked like a monstera Peru, which would be a slow grower from clippings but i see how it’s a pretty little golden pothos, I think. (I too am no expert). I actually grow mine in water because they seem to thrive in it. I made it a climbing post (mine is significantly smaller) out of bamboo skewers and moss/twine and its super happy.

You might try repotting into a different media. I experienced the same thing a year or two ago with a plant that just wasn’t thriving. Moving it to a chunkier mix really helped. I use a third potting soil, a third orchid bark, and a third perlite.

Pothos are so fun! They are the Pokémon of plants. Gotta collect ‘em all 😁
