I recently bought a few philodendrons, 2 alocasias, and a monstera. I’m newer to houseplants and hoping I could get some advice how to keep to alocasias alive because I heard they are very moody!

You’ve picked the best plants! But yes, Alocasias can for sure be quite moody. I find that most Alcoasias needs lots of light. I have mine under grow light 🪴

I’m OBSESSED with Alocasia’s right now 😍😍😍 I have 9 right now and waiting on a few more to be shipped to me 😬😬😬

As far as cafe is concerned… they do like bright indirect light… but be careful cuz their leaves can scorch easily.. some types can tolerate more direct light than others though.. don’t let the soil dry out completely or they will drop leaves.. they’re heavy feeder so def make sure to fertilize them. Humidity… I don’t have a greenhouse, my apartment is my greenhouse lol but I do have them all by my humidifier that stays between 60-70% make sure to clean their leaves and inspect them very frequently… they’re VERY prone to spider mites… and I would avoid misting them in general they’re also super prone to fungal infection…

Also, when I water them I like bottom watering better, helps keep the fungus gnats at bay since they like constantly moist soil..

If you have any other questions let me know!! Good luck!!! They’re definitely worth it!!

I just got a black velvet delivered today!! I’m giving it about an hour or two before I replant it, it’s next to my humidifier and in a south facing window. I work tonight so I’m going to see how it holds up after I replant it!! I’m going to replant in 50-50 perlite and Spagnum moss with a layer of Leca at the bottom. Thank you for the advice! I’m so excited for the rest of them to come.
