# Hello! I recently repotted my Monstera Deliciosa, as I knew it had…

_Posted by Plant mama on 2023-02-22_

Hello! I recently repotted my Monstera Deliciosa, as I knew it had been potbound for a while (roots growing out of drainage holes, plus being able to remove entire root ball from the growers pot to see the coiling) but had started to show more signs (lower leaves growing smaller and turning yellow, soil drying out in a few days, etc). I used a chunky mix of moisture control potting mix + perlite + orchid bark and went up about 3” in pot size; also giving it a moss pole to climb and securing it with Velcro. Put it back in the same bathroom windows. But it’s been about 3 weeks and it almost looks worse. :(
Help!

I guess it’s kind of hard to tell from the picture - but more leaves have turned yellow and died, or have turned brown around the edges.

Were you able to tease/loosen up the roots when you pulled it out of the growers pots?

Yes - it took forever. I’m wondering if I went a bit overboard and maybe it was too much for the plant

Could just be a bit of transplant shock. I’m hopeful that it slowly recovers and is just focusing on putting out new roots instead of leaves.

Check for pests!! Yellowing can be a big sign of them, otherwise I would make sure you’re letting the soil dry out almost all the way before watering. It could also be transplant shock :( hope this helps!!
