A super kind friend gave me a grow light bulb since my place is rather dark. I’m just a little confused over how long I should keep it on each day? Is it supposed to be on during the night too? I’m sorry but I’ve never used one before but I want to give my coleus more light so it grows better. Thank you!

i typically keep mine on from 9am to 6pm and i am in northeast of the US. i use a smart plug to control the timing!

Thank you, I will definitely get a smart plug then or I might forget to turn it on some days

I keep mine on for 12 hours. Have been doing that for about 6 months and my plants seem to be thriving. Aside from succulents which didn’t like any of the grow lights I’ve tried ☹️

Oh I see, I don’t have any succulents now but good to know if I get any. Seems like it’s best to only have it on during the day then. Will try with 10 hours a day to begin with. I really hope it will grow happily now 🙂

I didn’t know about grow lights. Are they special lamps?

I always did 12 hours and if it was too much back up to 11 or 10 hours
