I recently purchased a 6 in Peace Lilly from Kroger that sits at my office. I’ve always used the default schedules in Planta, which has worked pretty well, except for with this one. It seems that the water settings are too infrequent. It always perks back up, but it’s not thriving. I know how to custom change my schedule, but I like how it auto adjusts based on the season. My one thought is that I have the wrong soil listed. This one drains super quickly, almost like orchid soil, while I just listed it as regular potting soil in the app. Is that what this soil looks like to you? When I changed the soil in the app, it didn’t adjust the schedule. Any other suggestions?

Hi 🙂 Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your plant, but don't worry, we can sort this out. Peace lilies are a bit picky when it comes to watering, i.e. they want their soil almost constantly moist. It looks like you have a soil that drains very well. So an advice is to repot the plant into a soil that can hold the water better. However, it doesn’t sound so good that the schedule doesn’t change when you change the soil type. Would you mind contacting us in support at contact@getplanta.com so we can take a look at what could be wrong? 🙂

That’s why I took a picture of the soil too. When I changed from potting soil to orchid soil, it kept my interval at 7 days. Perhaps it’s not orchid mix, that’s just the closest it looked like out of the options. Can anyone tell, or do you know which option to select for faster drainage?

It looks in the picture like it could be orchid mix, but unfortunately that will not change the schedule, but you could try changing it to cactus soil, that should increase the intervals slightly 🙂 I will also forward this to our team and we will look into this!! If the schedule is still off, you can choose to set a custom schedule or repot the plant in a soil that holds water better, until we find a solution for this 🙂🌱

I’ve repotted my peace Lillies into, basically, an around mix and I amended it with a bit more coconut coir so that it holds onto the moisture a bit more than the aroid mix already does. Cut to now and they both seem to be super happy with it.
Your mix might be fine if you’d rather just water it more often. I’m just lazy sometimes. 😂

I agree with Matt. I don’t think that soil is really suitable for your peace lily. Maybe repot it instead of struggling with watering it every other day? I grow mine in a mixture with potting soil and perlite.

We’re coming up on the March “everything gets repotted” part of the Planta app anyway. So I’ll likely be doing just that.
