# I was getting ready to wipe down her leaves when I saw these two…

_Geplaatst door Kim op 2024-04-15_

I was getting ready to wipe down her leaves when I saw these two babies! I bought her tilted and repotted her tilted but when I try to identify it I only find results for bromeliads (which are straight up and down).
What, if anything, needs done to welcome these little guys in?
Also should I try to straighten the mother out or leave her titled?

Aww congrats you’re a plant grandma!! And I would leave them (the babies) where they are for now, and let them grow a bit before you try moving them. I’m also pretty sure the mom is fine, but I don’t know anything about bromeliads or really about any plants other than succulents, so I would check!

Yep, this is definitely a bromeliad. I don’t know a ton about bromeliads yet, just got a couple myself, but I do know that once they flower, they are near the end of their lifecycle. Feels like false advertising since most of the bromeliads you see at stores are flowering. They will then produce pups like the ones you see, pass their nutrients on to the babies, and die. One of my new ones just started down the same road. Knowing that, it might not be worth the effort to untilt the mother at this point since she’s about to go. Just correct that issue when you pot up the babies.

Thank you!! I thought it was too but not seeing a tilted one online had me wondering. Thank you for all the great advice and I hope both our babies make it to the flowering stage ;)
