I would like to get some more plants only issue is this will go just outside my living room and there isn’t direct sunlight (15 feet from window). I would also like to get some plants for my kitchen maybe some I could put on top of my cabinets or near the sink there is no sunlight in the kitchen. I am a beginner to plants, does anyone have some good suggestions on what plants to get?

Zz plants! Pothos mother in law tongue (aka snake plants) hardy, easy and all beautiful

I think you are going to need grow lights. Wattages of 10 for individual plants. The inexpensive tube lights with multiple colors are usually worthless and will be a disappointment. I suggest you stick with name brand full spectrum lights. They are not cheap but they are bright enough to support plant growth.

Thanks I didn’t even consider that but will now

What is a name brand that is good?

There are several good brands. I use Barrina lights for tropicals and Sansi for my succulents. In general Barrina lights have a wider light spread while Sansi are more intense with a more narrow light field.

Krissy has good suggestions with the Zz, Pothos and Snake Plant. But! While they are “known” for “thriving” in low light, they do much better with more light. To plants, light is food (photosynthesis). If you can, add some light for them. They will be happy which will make you happy!

Most plants need good lighting unless you are growing mushrooms. Being 15ft from a typical residential window is equivalent to being in deep shade. Add grow lights to all the dark areas and you can safely grow any plant.

My photo shows hoyas and other plants growing in a dark corner about 15 ft from a window with blackout curtains. This temporary set up is made from clip-on shop light fixtures and large grow light bulbs from Hone Depot/Lowes. These run 12 hours a day connected to a Kasa WiFi (smart home) timer controlled from my iPhone.🪴🍀
