Are you talking about the brown spots? Most common is under- or overwatering, and overwatering is more common than underwatering. It doesn’t look too bad right now, so I would suggest maybe backing off the water for a bit and seeing if it stabilizes. I don’t know much about what kind of potting mix this plant prefers, it looks like it’s living in garden soil? (Gorgeous leaves BTW.)

I have it in leca right now. It hated being in soil for me. I got it back and put it in leca and it started spitting out leaves but now those spots are appearing.

Marginal leaf tip necrosis can have a lot of causes so I’ll run through a few. I’m guessing you’ve already checked for pests, but spider or flat mites could contribute to this.

These guys tend to prefer high humidity (60+%), so that may be a good starting point. They also like brighter light than a lot of people realize; any chance its light source/situation has changed in the last couple months?

If you feel confident it’s not any of those then the next step is to look at the leca/nutrient solution. If you haven’t flushed the leca in a while that may be worth a try; this can be a sign of salt buildup. Checking pH, if you haven’t recently, is also a good idea.

Thank you!

It’s definitely not mites, I’ve checked for that.

The light situation, every time I have it around light it starts to get unhappy so I’ve moved it away and not it gets lower light recently. I’ll try putting it back in light, right now it’s getting light from a window.

I’ll check the PH level. Do you happen to have a keyword I can Google for more information?

Seriously, thank you. I’ve been fighting this damn plant for a year. 😩

For light, try moving it a few feet closer to the window each week if possible. It may just need some time to adapt.

What are you giving it in leca? Just water or a specific nutrient solution? Does it have drainage and a reservoir or no drainage?

I don’t know who you are, but that was such a fact filled, and, insightful return post, that I need to sit at your feet and learn about my greenies. Thank you for so generously sharing your knowledge; we all learn from members like you!
