# A leaf fell off of my Flamingo Lily, so I put it in water to see if…

_Geplaatst door Lynda op 2024-10-30_

A leaf fell off of my Flamingo Lily, so I put it in water to see if it could be propped! Comments???
TIA… 🤗💚🪴
PS. I’ve also noticed a very slight opaque-ish cloud, sort of hovering around the base… it’s hardly noticeable. But I’ve rinsed out the glass, rinsed off the root, and put fresh water back in it, two times. Is that the appropriate care for propping this leaf? Is this almost invisible cloud something negative?

Hi Lynda!! Unless there is a node on the part that fell off, it won’t propagate this way. Can you post a picture of the part in the water?

Hi Laura, here’s a pic of the bottom of that stem that fell off. If this is not a good enough picture, let me know. I asked Siri to give me examples of what a node looks like, which she did, but I’m still not sure if this is a node or not. If you know if this is a node…😵‍💫… please let me know. TXS!

These plants grow by bulbs. The only way to propagate is by division

You can, but the wait time Is months to get viable roots. And there does need to be a node. In general if a leaf falls off a plant it does not have a node on it with axillary buds.

Can you tell by looking at these pictures, if this stem has a node on it? TIA. 🤗💚🪴

I cannot, no. Anthurium generally have really small internodes, so they aren't as easy to detect as say a pothos. Here's one I found online showing a single auxiliary bud on a single node cutting

Vs the Aerial roots. These are from Leafy Luster on youtube. Her chop and prop antherium video also covers air layering. Which I've found works really well for plants that take forever to root
