Hi everyone. Can someone help me determine what could be wrong with my darling? I use tap water in Toronto. I believe she’s a calathea. Unbeknownst to me.

It’s a maranta (closely related to Calathea), and these kids don’t do well with tap water, and often need some humidifier support.

So she sits by my bathtub and I have at least 3 baths a day, but I should look into a different water source? She gets at least 1 new leaf a week.

Specifically, it’s a lemon lime maranta. Only distilled, no exceptions. She will scream at you if use tap or even filtered. No matter what u do, some leaves will get crispy but the plant will be very rewarding to you. Mine puts out tons of new growth and right now she’s blooming!! Just clip the crispy leaves and don’t worry cause she will give u plenty of leaves to replace them. 😊Also, mine is about 1 1/2 ft from a grow light. And I must her often. Good luck!!!

If distilled water isn’t an option, you can treat your water with aquarium conditioner. Takes 2 - 3 drops per gallon. Can buy from Amazon or most pet supply stores. Ive transitioned from distilled water to treated tap water for all my plants.

A consistent watering routine helps too. I don’t let mine fully dry out.
