# Over or under watered? It’s a cissus discolor. A few smaller vines…

_Publié par McKenzie le 2026-02-12_

Over or under watered? It’s a cissus discolor. A few smaller vines dried up and fell off after I first got it, which I figured was just shock. It’s been a few weeks and I’m noticing some of the leaves near the base are getting lighter in color, but I can’t tell whats causing it. I’m assuming it’s water but I’m not sure if I’m overwatering or under watering. Included the whole plant, the base where the discoloration is starting, and a few leaves that have fallen off. Thanks!

Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Just water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Also; Begonias thrive in high humidity (60% or higher)

I keep it in my bathroom! Humidity is right around 65. I’ve noticed the soil seems to be holding more water in the bottom of the pot, could that be causing the yellowing?

Yes, maybe the pot is to big or you need some extra amendments to get better air flow to the roots 😀 i drill holes in the side of some of my planters to help with that. You can also use a skewer to help aerate the soil... just stab lots of holes in the soil dont worry another roots they are resilient.

Thank you! Will definitely give this a try.
