Hey guys! I’m looking for potting soil recommendations please 🌿
I’m planning on repotting my plants this weekend as when I bought them I was told they’d need repotting soon. I don’t know what they’re currently growing in but was hoping to buy some potting soil and mix with coco coir and perlite.
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
(Will be repotting my ficus and 2x dracaena fragrans)

fox farm ocean forest is the greatest of all time in my opinion. super rich and fairly chunky right out of the bag.

i mix it with extra perlite and orchid bark — i also have earthworm castings and fine peat on hand

Thanks will add to the list! I live in the UK and can’t seem to see any shops that stock it so may have to be an Amazon buy x if you happen to be UK based and know where I can get some/ any UK products that would be good too! Xx

Just broadly speaking, if your base is potting soil you may not need to add coir. Coir is nice for water retention and has a slightly acidic pH around what houseplants like, which is why soil-free mixes often use it, but most potting soil will serve those same purposes.

If you already have coir you want to use then it works well to mix with perlite and bark. Or potting soil plus perlite is also a good option (with option of adding bark as well.)

As far as UK options I just know that everyone raves about soil ninja, which is pricier but does come pre-blended for each plant genus.
