# Looking for some help! 🙏🏼 I finally bought my first Monstera last…

Looking for some help! 🙏🏼 I finally bought my first Monstera last weekend. I felt like maybe she wasn’t getting enough light in my window so I’ve put her outside in the early morning sunlight for 2-3 hours the last few days (I live in northern NY). I thought she was liking it since I even got a new fenestration but I noticed that the tips of the leaves are curling down? Is this normal? I’m afraid maybe the sun hurt it, and I’m not sure what to do (I haven’t watered it since I bought it in fear of overwatering, also, and I did a wipe down with neem oil on the leaves this afternoon so I plan to keep her out of the sun for the next day or two).

I’d really appreciate anyone’s help; I’m new to this and really want to keep her happy and healthy 🥹

It may be due to low humidity and dry air outside, assuming that Northern New York is as dry now as it was when I visited Cooperatown over 10 years ago.

If you’re moving her in and out each day, she may be having a hard time adjusting to the climate changing so frequently.

Those tips look pretty healthy to me. I’d be worried if they were yellowing or browning at all. Most healthy Monstera leaves I’ve seen are pointing down. Moving her in and out everyday to get her acclimated is a good thing and recommended to get plants adjusted to a new environment. It does look like you’ve got 3 plants in there so they’ll probably start twisting towards all the great sun. May want to consider repotting and staking them at some point in the next few months before they get too rooted to each other. Beautiful new addition to your collection!

My Brasil philodendron leaves curls under and pucker when they need water. Many things can cause monstera leaves to curl under including under/over watering, low humidity, high heat and over fertilization. You can evaluate each cause to see if one applies. It’s likely staying dry too long or the humidity is low assuming you are not placing it in full sunlight. 🍀🪴
