# Hey there! First time posting. My apartment has a recessed balcony.…

Hey there! First time posting.

My apartment has a recessed balcony. The balcony is about 8ft deep before it reaches my south facing window. Should I be measuring for distance of my plants from my window from the window itself, or from the front of the balcony? See 3 attached pictures for details. (Excuse the currently messy balcony 😅)

I would guess the window if they're on the inside.

That's what I currently do, but I also figure that in measuring the distance they are from the window, it is measuring how far they are from the direct sunlight. Mine would be further from the direct sunlight than just from the window I think.

That's a good point. I have a large overhang on my front window but I still measure from the window. I guess just watch the plants for burns (too much sun) or legginess (not enough sun). What kind of plants are you going to put there?
