# Can somebody help me figure out what happened at the base of my aloe…

Can somebody help me figure out what happened at the base of my aloe plant?
I’m new at taking care of plants, and I just got this guy a little over a week ago in perfect condition. Now I looked and saw that the base of this leaf is mushy, a little brown, and floppy.

It’s root rot, sadly, from what I’ve learned killing two aloe plants is that they thrive on neglect, don’t water them for two months and they’re fine, if you care for them they’ll hate you lol. Best chance is trying to get a leaf with some of the base part that’s not rotted and try and prop that. Thats what I’m trying now. Or you could look at the roots and see if it’s salvageable and perhaps giving it a hydrogen peroxide treatment and more well draining soil will revive it.

What she said. Way more sun/light \& less water!
