Hi. I just got a few succulent/cacti from Walmart, and they seem to be doing mostly okay. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify any of them (they’re labeled as mixed genus- cacti), or offer any tips on growing them.

Background: As of right now i’m planning on repotting to 4 inch terracotta pots, they’ll be receiving very bright indirect light for most of the day, and the label says water every two weeks.

Again, any information is greatly appreciated ❤️🌱

PS. If anyone knows what the white spot is please let me know

This one looks to be a type of aloe.

And this one I would say is a type of echeveria. As for any tips, I wanna advise you to check the roots and soil for any root rot and possible pests, and quarantine the plants from any plants you already have until you can rule out any possible pest problems. That’s my rule of thumbs when buying any new plants, but especially anything I buy from a box store like Walmart or Lowe’s, as they aren’t trained on how to take care of houseplants and they’re often near the opening doors of the outdoor gardening center, attracting pests, and sometimes potted in the wrong soil. They all love a south windowsill, so put them all in the brightest windowsill you’ve got, and if you don’t have a south window, definitely consider investing in a grow light. Remove the dead leaves under this plant while you check the roots. If you spot any pests or root rot, feel free to say so here and I’d be happy to walk you through how to treat either problem! And if you plan on repotting any of them, please avoid anything miracle grow brand, as I noticed in your bio that you hail from Florida, and miracle grow is infamous for containing too much peat and keeping the soil moist for too long, as well as becoming a gnat magnet, especially in humid climates. I use Espoma’s Cactus and Succulent Mix for all my succulents. Hope this helps!

I have that same white spot on one of my succulents! I had pests (fungus gnats) that I treated a little too much I think, and it damaged some of my leaves

There’s a lot of possibilities as to what could’ve led to the spot, especially if it’s from a Walmart where there aren’t plant experts monitoring the plant. My best guess would be it might’ve gotten burned by someone watering the top of the leaves, removing the plant’s natural “sunscreen” that the whole film on their leaves naturally is or a little gnawed on by a pest. Definitely important to check for gnats, and from my experience, I’ve found reducing the plant completely to its roots and repotting completely is the best way to get rid of the gnats for good.

No problem! I highly suggest jade plants if you’re into succulents, btw. They’re very hardy and very beginner friendly.

One thing I’ve noticed getting plants from Walmart, the nursery they get cacti from plant them WAY too deep in the soil. Roots only! If they’re too heavy like the spiny one, use rocks and pebbles to hold it upright.
