# If I have an LED lamp on my desk above keyboard, and have succulents…

If I have an LED lamp on my desk above keyboard, and have succulents near the keyboard also under the LED lamp, does that count as "grow light"? It's within 6 inches of the lamp? And I have it for long hrs. ...though I don't see any difference on the succulents... could they be dead? 🤷‍♀️ 🤔

you'd know if they were dead I think. plants are pretty resilient. the led probably helps keep them alive but isn't exactly what they need to thrive and grow big

A regular led will kill them slowly. unless it’s a full spectrum. There’s not a large enough variety of wavelengths in a “normal” led to promote growth. Grow lights tend to be higher wattage too. Succulents especially need a pretty high lumen output.

It is also winter though so depending on the variety they may be dormant

Ty both. I'll move off my desk to window sill... I'll have to buy fake succulents then... 😌

It'd need supplementation with sunlight. Or change the bulb to a 60watt grow light
