# Hi! I’m new to gardening outdoor plants. What kind of soil is best…

Hi! I’m new to gardening outdoor plants. What kind of soil is best for herbs and vegetables that are in a balcony? I planted basil thyme rosemary butterhead lettuce and kale earlier this season but I think is not draining properly even tho I made a lot of holes to the planter box. I think is the soil but I’m not sure which soil should I use. Any info welcomed!!

I use organic potting mix for herbs and grading with perlite.

I prefer a chunky mix that has some mulch in it and they seem to be very happy. You’ll just have to fertilize as needed tho

Will it prevent termites? And other bugs?

I haven’t had any issues so far. I just water when the top looks dry
