# I was gifted this plant today by a colleague who is leaving the…

I was gifted this plant today by a colleague who is leaving the company. She doesn’t know what type of plant it is and when I asked for care instructions, she said “Ignore it!” It’s very lovely with a reddish tint to the leaves. But it has one spindly stalk/stem. She said she had it propped up with a stick but she took it out. I will add something tomorrow but would love to know what it is. Also that stem is way too fragile. Wonder if I might have to chop and hope it’s one of those plants where two or three branches will grow where you chop. Thoughts?

Planta keeps saying it’s a Dracaena Reflexa but it looks nothing like that.

Definitely dracaena but idk which variety

That is 100% a Dracaena reflexa. Looks like the angustifolia 'Magenta' variety. I have two, and they look very similar.

“Ignore it” is actually decent advice! They like to dry out between waterings, and shouldn’t be left in standing water. Planta’s instructions have been pretty spot on for me with these guys.

Wow thanks for the info. I looked up the ‘Magenta’ variety and that looks like it.

I wouldnt do a thing, plant looks great! If you wanna make it your own, get it a fancier pot.
