I had the same! It’s a mushroom and I was told it’s safe as far as the plant itself, I would not eat or let pets get to it just in case. But it’s short lived and I had about 3 total pop up- enjoy while it’s there😊

Thank you. I figured but I just wanted to be sure it’s not something toxic lol.

It’s a mushroom. Typically not a cause of concern, and often times, a sign of good soil health. I would just pluck it out at the base and spray where it was with some hydrogen peroxide. It can also be an indicator that you’ve either got a fair amount of humidity for your plants or that the soil is still moist from watering. If the mushrooms come back again, you could try a fungicide next time to treat it. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. I’ll go ahead and pluck it out like you suggested. Really appreciate the advice!

Personally I wouldn’t recommend a fungicide for a mushroom that doesn’t seem to be hurting the plant. For parasitic mushrooms then absolutely! It looks like you’re plants in a pot, so if the mushrooms really bother you, you could just replace the soil. Mycelium can be expansive, and new mushrooms might pop up from it if the hydrogen peroxide doesn’t work. A lot of plants form connections with fungi, and these mycorrhizal network can be important. This doesn’t seem like one of those mushrooms, but if it’s an outdoor plant it would risk the fungicide leaking out and potentially harming nearby, important networks. Although it likely would be in a small enough quantity that it wouldn’t hurt anything, and if your plant is on a balcony or somewhere far enough away from any other plants it should be fine. Just something to consider! Definitely not saying “never use fungicide!” Or anything like that! Just consider your surroundings when deciding!

Oh wow! If you’re plucking it anyway, you could make a spore print from it! They can be really pretty 🍄, definitely wash your hands really well after touching it though, especially if you don’t know what type it is.

If you want to learn more about this species of mushroom, it's called a flowerpot parasol 🍄‍🟫
