You can buy distilled water by the gallon at the grocery store it's usually under $3 a gallon. I'm not sure about your other question.

I have a Reverse Osmosis water filter that I got for drinking water. It works great for my fly trap.

I actually bought a home water distiller on Amazon. At $2+ per gallon at the store it’s paid for itself easily. Might be worth looking into.
