Hi guys!! Please give me your thoughts on my setup. I moved into a very low light level apartment and this is my first time with grow lights. The guy at the nursery recommended one for my monstera which hasn’t been doing well since I moved. The little black thing on the bottom is my humidifier. Pls help me help my plants xoxo

Okay Leilani, I grow my collection under pretty much just grow lights, I’ll try to tell you all about my experience with them through about a year now. I see MUCH better/faster growth on my more expensive grow lights (the ones that hurt your eyes a bit to look at) full spectrum. You can never have too much really, but using a lux reader app on your phone helps a TON, look up your plant and the amount of light they need in either lux or foot candles(these measurements can be converted into eachother). I just bought a pendant one off Amazon for 50$ cad and it’s bright as hell and can be hung from wall hooks. I also use some from Canadian tire- expensive but they do actually work well. I’d probably get another light or 2 for your setup, I avoid cheap amazon lights when possible because they cause kinda slow growth-not nonexistent but slower.

Leave them on for as long as possible, shoot for 14 hours but atleast 12

This was super helpful thank you so much!! I do get some ambient light as well and I’m trying to adjust them without shocking them so I’ll probably wait a bit and see how they do here but you eased a lot of my concerns. I was worried about too MUCH light lol but if these don’t work out I’ll definitely follow your recommendations

Those lights are too far from the plants on the lower shelves and the short plants on the top shelves. Light meters or light meter apps are very helpful to show that light lumens drop quickly outside of 14” from the typical grow light. I recommend adding grow lights to every shelf to prevent lanky stems/vines and leaf drop.
