The new growth on my pothos how are brown! Unsure why or what to do to fix it! Any help will do, I’m a newbie in plant care!

Deformed and brown leaves on the new growth of your Pothos can result from various factors:

1\. \*\*Watering Issues\*\*: Both overwatering and underwatering can lead to leaf deformities and browning. Ensure the soil is consistently moist but not waterlogged. Let the top few inches of soil dry out between waterings.

2\. \*\*Humidity\*\*: Low humidity levels can cause the leaves to dry out and become deformed. Pothos thrive in moderate to high humidity. You can increase humidity by using a humidifier, misting the plant, or placing a tray of water near it.

3\. \*\*Light Conditions\*\*: Insufficient light can lead to weak and deformed growth. Pothos do best in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while too little light can cause poor growth.

4\. \*\*Pests\*\*: Insects such as spider mites, aphids, and thrips can damage new growth. Check your plant for pests and treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil if necessary.

To me this looks like watering issues. Pothos are very drought tolerant plants that need to dry out completely between waterings, otherwise they may get root rot. I like to check with a wooden skewer, which I stick in the pot for a minute, and if it comes out clean and dry, it needs water. I doubt it’s a nutrient or humidity issue, since pothos are usually very easy and forgiving plants. Also, misting and pebble trays won’t actually increase humidity enough to help a plant, so if you want to increase humidity, I recommend a humidifier.

Thank you so much this is very helpful! I’ve been watering it once a week but I will try the wooden stick trick!
