I’m not sure what’s happening with my Monstera. It seems like the new leafs are coming out dead? Please help 😭 the second pic, the right shorter side was a stem of a leaf I cut off and the left new leaf has been there for a few weeks

I would check the roots to make sure there’s not some kind of root rot

have you fertilized the plant ever? “ghost leaves” like this are common on monstera that have depleted the nutrients in their pot. it also looks like the pot may be too big for the plant which can cause rot, so it might be a good idea to un-pot it and potentially treat the plant and downsize.

I just fertilized it today! I never thought of the pot size. The root is an awkward shape so I thought a bigger size was necessary. I’ll try a smaller pot and go from there, thank you!!

no problem. epiphytic plants, and succulents, benefit from being snug in their pots since the soil will dry out faster. 1” of space around a bare root ball (no soil) is what i aim for. monstera especially are prone to root rot so too much soil can be a death sentence if left too long in saturated soil. they also tend to only produce new leaves when they feel established in the pot so too big a pot may drastically slow foliage growth.
