# So my fiance recently picked up this fly trap and she isn’t sure if…

So my fiance recently picked up this fly trap and she isn’t sure if it is already dead. Any recommendations on trying to bring this thing back to good health? We don’t have very green thumbs.

General Venus fly trap info:  
• It's very difficult to grow these indoors because they need lots of light  
• They cannot have any fertilizer or regular soil; either carnivorous soil or moss  
• They drink A LOT so it's a good idea to have a tray of water under the nursery pot  
• They don't need to eat flies very often. They get their energy from light, just like other plants. Bugs are fertilizer for them, so even just 1 fly a month is good.  
• The trap will die after eating ~ 3 bugs. Don't worry; it'll grow a new trap.
