# I’m new to the community, newish to houseplants, but not to outdoor…

I’m new to the community, newish to houseplants, but not to outdoor gardening. I’m having a hard time telling if my parlor palm has thrips. If it does, what are best ways to treat it, and I’m guessing I should treat the 3 plants next to it. (One is definitely having an issues of some sort as well.)

Is this thrip damage?

Haiii,

This is mite damage. Thrips generally leave black poop and leave damage in little squiggly lines. Mites leave damage that looks like freckles of white.

Like spider mites? If they were mites, would I see webbing?

You’ll see white speckles that look like dust on the back and if you shine a light over the leaf at an angle, the webbing will be easier to see
