I need help with this one!
I typically pretty set on caring for Alocasia’s but-
I just moved back home to Florida \& my alocasia that I bought here (in Florida, about 8 weeks ago) and recently the foliage has been doing this one by one. i assume root rot. My Other alocasia’s are fine and keeping the soil from being completely dried out Does Great with them all but Maybe since i bought this here and because of our Hot weather its used to drying out? Ive never Had a plant literally Melt away like this haha

Pot is wayyy too big. It could also be because your not providing enough light I’d get a grow light for ex coverage yours is a bit smaller then mine

You want the roots to be 1-2 inches smaller then your pot I love using terracotta pots cause it absorbs a lot of the ex water so it keeps your plants more dry

I do have a terra-cotta pot, but it does not have drainage hole in but I am going to a plant shop near me soon and I will look at the terra-cotta pots. The ones that I have that have holes are being used with with a couple of my tropical plants!

Hello, thank you for the reply. You’re alocasia’s look beautiful! So with the pot set up going on the pot may seem like it’s too big, but it is actually 1-2 inches bigger than the root system. It just looks better because it is a self watering pot which I don’t have water in it. I just use it for decoration pot pretty much. the foliage was full and great when I first got it from the place I purchased it
. They definitely let it sit and dry out completely and my alocasia’s that I have already aren’t used to that (being dried out) and I don’t have a problem with any of them but this one! when I got this one the tips of them were browning so that kinda gave me an indication that they’re letting them dry out I think that me bring them into my house and treat them like my other five alocasia’s isnt the move lol. I am going to check the system on this one because I know it’s rot for sure and then leave it how the nursery I got it from does (let it completely dry out) and go from there and hope for the best and I live in Florida, so we have bright direct sunlight and it sits pretty close to window during the day! Again thank you For Replying and Letting me know babe!

I Put It in a
Terra-cotta pot with the drainage hole I found in my garage lol hopefully this will do better and the roots look like they didn’t have any root rot but i did switch to terra-cotta out of plastic!
