Hi,

I’m new to indoor plants. I recently got baby birds of paradise. It looked healthy when I got it. I put it on my balcony, and after a few weeks, I noticed those white dots on the leaves. Is that a type of pest or are they just particles from being outside? Thank you for your insights!

It’s probably edema if they are just white spots and not moving insects or their eggs. Edema occurs naturally when the leaves have too much water in the cells that burst and dry out leaving white spots. You can water slightly less to reduce the excess water in the soil. 🪴🍀
