Looks like tubers :) if you bury it under the soil it should produce a new plant.

In this same pot? Or should I rake it out

I’d leave it in. Make a fuller plant. These have very fine root systems, and can tolerate crowding. It’s probably connective to a main string in there somewhere 👍🏻
