# I have checked for spider mites, don’t have this plant in direct sun…

_Posted by Smartyplants on 2024-04-11_

I have checked for spider mites, don’t have this plant in direct sun but enough I feel it needs, and don’t feel like im overwatering it… so what do you think is the issue with this leaf? I’m so sad and feel so lost because I can’t figure it out. It’s even more yellow today, it continues to spread. 😩

Maybe the soil is low on nutrients? I occasionally put coffee grounds or eggshells in my plants- also a little bit of any vegetable water I have left after boiling veggies(let it cool down ofc). Since I’ve done that I have A LOT less inexplicable yellowing leaves. (Just a suggestion from an amateur- I’m no expert)

Egg shells take many years to break down to contribute calcium to soil. I wouldn’t add coffee grounds to this plant, the acidity spike might be harmful

Are you fertilizing this? I see you’re in FL and that this might be near an AC? Bright indirect/filtered light is best. These are sensitive to abrupt changes in temperature. Could it be that?

It is near an AC vent!

I would start by moving it away from that. Had it been repotted recently? It is just this leaf or are they all starting to turn?

I fertilized it 3 days ago!!

Was it yellow prior to fertilizing? Sometimes this can be a result of over-fertilizing.

Just one leaf! We did repot when we saw the leaf drooping and thought it might be an underlying issue so we took it out to check the roots.

I’ll definitely give those a try thank you! I’m fairly new so all the tips I can get I truly appreciate!
