# My plumeria has a black spot on one of the branches and it is soft to…

_Posted by HollyBeth on 2025-05-21_

My plumeria has a black spot on one of the branches and it is soft to the touch. The end of the branch is still green but there are no current leaves developing. Does anyone know what I should do or what this black spot is from? Should I cut the branch off? Please help!!

Yes cut the rot out but also it may mean you have root rot and it’s starting to rot the plant so u may want to check the roots

This branch is the only one that has a black spot on it. How do I tell if the plant has root rot? What will the roots look like?

Also should I cut the entire branch off or just cut it where the black spot ends?

The roots would be brown/black and mushy instead of firm, and they may smell if it’s bad. I’m not sure what healthy roots look like for your plant though, I think some plants do have brown roots already, but if you look and you’re not sure about the roots then I’d post a picture and see what others say.

Can I see the entire plant?
