# I was ready to give up on my eucalyptus when I noticed a bunch of new…

I was ready to give up on my eucalyptus when I noticed a bunch of new growth. How can I save her? She’s got loads of dry falling off leaves, and was knocked off the shelf so lost half of her leaves to that. Then had powdery mildew!! My poor gal has been through it, but I’m hopeful she can pull through seeing her new leaves.

What can I do to make her happy? She’s got a bunch of brown stems, should those be trimmed off? And what about her crispy leaves, am I Ok to remove those as well? I didn’t have the app when I picked her up so didn’t realize how much care they required and I’m afraid I haven’t been a good plant mum.

She’s in a SW window that gets about 6+ hrs of bright light, and I slowed down on watering as per Planta’s expert chat advice, but when I do water I make sure to give her loads of water til it comes through the drainage holes and let her drain out before putting her back in her spot. She was repotted a few months ago thinking she needed a bigger pot but that didn’t help any.

I have some eucalyptus that looks like this. What did you end up doing? Did it get better?

It did not sadly. I tried watering and fertilizing and more sun but the stems all turned black and the few remaining new growth dried out. I was told you’re only supposed to trim a 1/3rd of the plant at a time so that might of stressed it out too much when I gave it the big ol’ chop to remove all the dead stuff.

Sorry your Euc is doing the same. I hope yours pulls through! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I haven’t cut mine back. I’ve been tempted but I’m leaving them alone.
